Cathedral Domchyurkan (Goteborgs domkyrka)

Cathedral in the Old City.

On this site formerly stood two churches in 1721 and 1802, which burned during the fire.
After the first buildings were destroyed by fire in 1804 started the new construction.

The cathedral was built in 1815 in neoclassical style.

The construction project was created by architect Karl Wilhelm Karlberg, and after his death the building was finished by his disciple Justus F. Weinberg.

Department in the Empire style was created by AM Falkrantsem.

In the tower of the cathedral bells four, which together weigh about 13.8 tons.

Cathedral is surrounded by a park which is located on the site of the old cemetery.

Christine Church (Tyska kyrkan)

The church is located near the area of ​​Gustavus Adolphus, in the old town on the banks of the canal.


This is the German baroque church.
It was built from 1643 to 1648.
The church was named in honor of Queen Christina, the daughter of King Gustav II Adolf.
After a fire in 1746 it was restored by the German architect I. Reuss, why, and is called the "German".
Its majestic bell tower rises above the former residence of the West India Company.The bell tower was built in 1699, no less than 42 bells. After a fire in 1746, the church bell tower rebuilt in its present form in 1783.
