Senate Square

Senate Square - the heart of neoclassical Helsinki. The harmony of the three buildings located on the perimeter of the area, shows one of the cleanest styles of European architecture. On the westernside of the square is one of the main buildings of the capital of Finland - Helsingsky University(Helsingin Yliopisto), above, on a hill, is the main library of the University (Yliopiston pääkirjasto). On the eastern side of the pale yellow color stands out government building (Valtionneuvosto), whose construction was completed in 1822. At the lower end of the square are shops and restaurants, before there were houses of merchants and traders.
