Square name Gustavus Adolphus (Gustaf Adolfs Torg)

Square is located in the Old City - quarter of Gothenburg, close to the channel Stora Khamenei.


Gustav Adolf Square, named in honor of the King, the founder of Gothenburg and is the administrative center. This title she won in 1854.
In the center is a statue of Gustav II Adolf (1854), with four antique street lamps along the perimeter of the stone pedestal.On both sides of the square are buildings of classical architecture, typical of the Swedish late 17 - mid-19th century. In one - the town hall, on the contrary - the building of the Exchange (now the Municipality).
Previously, there was trading, handicraft shops were located elsewhere, it was noisy and fun.
