Museum of Contemporary Art at Mount Menhsberg
Salzburger Museum of Contemporary Art consists of two buildings at two sites:

Rupertinum in the heart of Old Town:
Baroque building of new artistic ideas.

Museum on the hill above the roofs Menhsberg Old Town:

Both buildings Salzburger Museum of Modern Art exhibition halls have an area of ​​3,000 square meters for the thematic and monographic exhibitions of works of art of the 20th and 21st centuries, as well as for presentation of graphic and photographic works. Museum of Contemporary Art on the mountain since 2004 Menhsberg "enthroned" on a steep mountain cliff Menhsberg, 60 meters above the square Anton Neumayer-Platz, over the roofs of the old town.
In 1998 he was declared an international design competition to build a new museum building on the hill Menhsberg. The jury of 11 people, chaired by Luigi Snotstsi from Switzerland, considered 145 applications, the project chose Munich architectural firm of Frederick Hoff Tsvinka. Such action was the special project subtle connection with the notable appearance of the water tower of the 19th century: with glazed stairwells overlooking the historic building. For three and a half years of construction was built museum on four floors offering a large selection of rooms for exhibitions of various sizes.
The entire outer part of the museum was covered with marble, and the local mountain Untersberg divided by vertical joints. In addition to their function in the supply air-conditioning system of the building, they can also be interpreted as a message to the city of Salzburg: the façade, with the help of a computer program used for the first time, in the form of the rhythm of narrow longitudinal holes, written notes of some arias from Mozart's opera "Don Giovanni".
The interior of the vast halls of the total area of ​​2300 square meters offers a modern-puristic framework for the requirements of the various exhibitions of art of the 20th and 21st centuries.
