The house, now a museum, was the apartment of Dostoevsky, where he lived the last years of his life. Here were written by many of his works of genius, in particular, the novel "The Brothers Karamazov."

In Soviet times the house was rebuilt under a communal apartment, and that once there lived a great writer, at some time forgot. A plaque on the wall of Dostoevsky's home has appeared only in 1956. Even after twelve years began overhaul at home.
