Abisko Park - National Park is located near the town.
The park covers an area of approximately 8,000 hectares.
It was founded in 1909 - less than one year after the first Swedish Law on the Protection of Nature.
It is 200 kilomatrah north of the Arctic Circle, near the border of Norway.
Includes a deep river canyon Abisko and the southern shore of the lake Turnetresk, freezing for 6-7 months a year.
From the south and west of the park covered with mountains. In the summer the sun never sets here exactly a month - from 13 June to 13 July.
