Livadia Palace was designed by architect Yalta Ya.P. Krasnov (1864-1946), who received for the construction of this palace and several other buildings on the southern coast of Crimea title of academician of Russian architecture

At the end of World War II Livadia was elected as a meeting place for heads of three anti-Hitler coalition allied powers - the USSR, the USA and UK. The conference was held in the White hall of the palace from 4 to 11 February 1945. Participants identified the joint action of the Union in the closing stages of the war, outlined the basic principles of general policy with regard to postwar world and adopted the "Declaration on liberated Europe." They discussed the creation of a new international organization to address the fundamental problems of peace-the United Nations.
